All the posters are guaranteed originals from the original print run and are not reproductions or modern copies. We do sell some later re-issue movie posters which have become valuable and collectible in their own right. Re-issues are clearly listed as such. All posters are guaranteed to be authentic.
We started out collecting posters over 20 years ago and over that time have built up significant experience and knowledge about vintage collectible posters. We wanted to share our passion. I hope you enjoy the collection.
All sizes are approximate and provided in centimetres.
Length is first followed by width.
We try to describe as accurately as possible the condition of each item. Many of the posters are professionally linen backed which is the accepted method of preservation. The process involves Japanese paper being pasted to a layer of cotton [not usually linen] and the poster is then pasted to the Japanese paper. Wheat paste reversible adhesive is used which allows future removal of the poster from the backing if required.
If posters are in good condition they do not need to be linen backed before framing. Linen backing is often used for ease of handling or in combination with restoration work.
Posters can be linen backed for an additional cost. Please contact us for pricing.
Collectible vintage posters of value should be conservation framed using acid free materials and UV protective glass to prevent UV damage and fading. Posters should not be trimmed or dry mounted as this will seriously affect the value. We can advise on archival standard framing.
We try to describe as accurately as possible the condition of each item. All the items are in good to very good/excellent condition. We don’t sell items below this standard unless it’s a rare item. The majority of the pre-1980’s film posters were folded, and collectors do not consider machine folds/fold lines for pre-1980’s materials to be defects.
An original poster is one that comes from the first print run.
It’s important to know that the poster comes from a reliable source.
Yes, posters that look new or “too good to be true” can be reproductions rather than originals.
