Original 1972 French government poster promoting travel to St Remy, Provence. The poster features St Paul de Mausole Monastery. The monastery adjoins the St Paul de Mausole psychiatric hospital made famous by Vincent Van Gogh who arrived there as a voluntary patient on the 8th May 1889 following the infamous incident when he cut off part of his ear. This time in St Remy is considered a major period in the works of Van Gogh. There remains a psychiatric hospital on the site today.
